Madness is elegant. The intensely beautiful madness portrayed in ‘A Beautiful Mind’ based on the real life of John Forbes Nash has inspired me to pursue my dreams courageously.
"The Only Thing Greater Than the Power of the Mind Is the Courage of the Heart"
I imagine nature as an art painted on the canvas of science whose beauty drives me crazy. My adventure in the field of science, in the backdrop of nature is like a drug that induces in me a euphoric pleasure. The insatiable hunger driven by sheer madness in these moments of tranquility is a mode for my escapism from the complexities of the real world.
I consider myself an adventurer trying to admire as well as unravel the subtleness in the beauty of nature and understand its deepest and delicate secrets.
Nature has been my constant inspiration. Its beauty is astounding and absorbing. I was always fascinated by every single phenomenon occurring in nature, from a light breeze to the gust of wind, from the flight of birds to the rattling of tree leaves. Nature is diverse as well as extensively rich in terms of numerous species that form an integral part of it. The intricate designs, complex structures and forms are very hard to comprehend. Although random, they are necessarily not arbitrary. There are patterns, exhibiting intense complexity both inward as well as, outward. These patterns and their variation are somewhat ordered rather being chaotic.
I don’t remember exactly when but, as I was growing up I developed a strong bond with nature. I used to find a sense of peace being in the company of trees, birds and leaves. This left an everlasting impression in my mind and instilled a deep respect and admiration in my heart. Since childhood, science used to fascinate me. Being a keen persistent observer I started looking at things closely, trying to appreciate their functioning, and very soon, came to understand the fact that whatever technology or mechanisms we have been able to synthesize today are products of our constant endeavor in understanding nature. As I see today, science and nature were the two very strong forces that had deeply influenced me as a kid, and then gradually developed me into a person that I am now. My mind became as free as a flowing river knowing no boundaries yet, grounded with rational and logical reasoning.
My career trajectory was unplanned but, the stage was almost set and it seemed extremely probable for me to ultimately become a biologist, ecologist or rather an environmentalist. As it would seem, there hardly have been any instances in my life when the law of probability has been in my favor. So, today I see myself not turning up to any of the professions I quote above, at least in the farthest future that I can foresee.
But, my constant drive to understand nature coupled with deep admiration in heart inspired me to embrace science wholeheartedly. I still consider myself as one alacritous, young kid always in search of “a smoother pebble or prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean lay all undiscovered before me”
The beauty of nature still continues to illude me...
